After calling 911, the Standard Response Protocol (SRP) applies to any emergency or crisis situation, including severe weather, earthquakes, hostile intruders and hazardous waste incidents.

Get inside. Lock outside doors.

This protocol is used to keep people safe inside of a building.

Students

  • Return to the inside of the building
  • Do business as usual

Instructors And Staff 

  • Lock outside doors
  • Increase situational awareness
  • Account for students, visitors and others

LOCKDOWN! 
Locks, lights, out of sight.

This protocol is used to secure individual rooms and keep occupants quiet and in place.

Students

  • Move away from sight 
  • Maintain silence
  • Do not open the door
  • Prepare to evade or defend

Instructors And Staff 

  • Recover people from the hallway if possible
  • Close and lock the door
  • Turn out the lights
  • Move away from sight
  • Maintain silence
  • Do not open the door

A location may be specified

Evacuate may be followed by a location and is used to move people from one location to a different location in or out of the building.

Students

  • Leave stuff behind if required to
  • If possible, bring your phone
  • Follow instructions

  • Lead evacuation to specified location
  • Account for students, visitors and others
  • Notify if missing, extra or injured people
